Project: Food Bank & Community Building
Location: Edgewood, Washington
Client: Mountainview Lutheran Church
Scope: New Construction
Completed: 2008

Mountainview Lutheran Church has been a community center for the local area since the beginning of the last century. As the congregation and program operations grew, their Food Bank needed a better facility and other church activities needed more space.

Utilizing the slope of the property it was possible to stack the community activities on top of the food bank, and still allow each to have their own ground level entrances.  The existing church was a strong influence on the appearance of the new building.

The food bank layout was designed to have a continuous, one-way flow of participants from check-in to departure. Space was provided for delivery, storage and sorting of goods. This level has its own restroom and janitor room. Additionally, there are storage rooms for various church groups.
